Lindquist & Vennum is a large regional law firm with locations in Minnesota, Denver and Sioux Falls. Lindquist & Vennum has long been recognized for its commitment to diversity and to providing pro bono services to people of virtually all races, religions, physical abilities and sexual orientations. One hundred percent of the attorneys have participated in pro bono work at some level since the program was formalized in 1997. In each of those same years, the firm has met the Pro Bono Institute’s “Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge” of contributing to pro bono work an amount of time equal to 3 percent of our firm’s total billable hours. In 2006 the firm was honored for having 94.5 percent of our attorneys log 20 or more hours of pro bono service—the highest percentage of any other Am Law 200 firm, and a number The American Lawyer called “staggering.” In January 2007, the Minnesota Judicial Council presented Lindquist & Vennum with its first-ever award recognizing pro bono efforts.
Lindquist knew it was important to showcase this probono work in their annual report and in a dedicated mailing, but eventually a Pro Bono blog was developed to share the success stories with the community readership and public outlets. The transition saved thousands in printing and mailing costs, but also kept the delivery of the stories more relevant and timely. Adellio:Creative spearheaded the launch of the pro bono blog which now connects off the law firm’s main website. Each month, Adellio:Creative’s writers, review the content provided by the client and distribute the stories on the blog.
